THERE was double heartbreak today for the devastated pupils caught up in a cruel World Cup ticket scam after the government played down a pledge from Tony Blair that new tickets could be found.
More than 40 pupils from Copleston High School in Ipswich forked out £380 to watch the Portugal against Iran game, only to be told as they made their way to the ground that there were no tickets for them.
Meanwhile, detectives from Thames Valley Police were today investigating the bank account of a person in Slough, Berkshire in connection with the alleged scam.
