THERE was more rail misery for thousands of commuters today after signalling failures between Norwich and Diss caused lengthy delays.

Passengers at Ipswich railway station endured waits of up to 90 minutes as engineers from rail operator 'one' worked on fixing the fault.

The signal failure meant passengers were due to face delays all morning as the timetable was once again plunged into chaos.

A spokesman for 'one' said the fault was discovered early today.

He said: "We have had some signalling problems between Norwich and Diss, but technicians are on site working now. They have identified the fault and are repairing it.

"It happened first thing this morning and is affecting our Norwich to London services. Because of the delays, there will be further knock-on delays for the rest of the morning."

Today's rail chaos is not the first time in recent months that commuters in Ipswich have been heavily delayed. In March, train services were hit on three consecutive Mondays leaving many jaded commuters stranded.
