AS the family of missing Luke Durbin prepare to face the heartbreak of his 22nd birthday, his mother has told of how she will never give up the fight to find him.

Luke Durbin's mum has renewed her appeal for information to locate her son with a new poster campaign around Ipswich.

On Thursday Luke will turn 22 and it will be the 938th day since he was last seen on a night out in Ipswich.

Although she is now sure that Luke is no longer alive, Nikki Durbin has said she will not stop until he is found.

There have been no new recent leads in the investigation into her son's disappearance but she is pinning her hopes on detectives being able to enhance and trace a number plate of a silver vehicle captured on CCTV from the spot where he was last seen.

She said: “It certainly does not get any easier. Physically and emotionally I cannot do anymore but I will not rest or stop looking until Luke is found whatever the circumstances.

“Nothing has changed for me and my family.”

Luke, from Hollesley, near Woodbridge, was 19 when he vanished on May 12, 2006 after enjoying a night out with friends at Zest nightclub. He was last seen on CCTV in The Buttermarket area at about 4am.

“Obviously the whole thing of December for me and my family is incredibly difficult time,” Ms Durbin said. “And this is the third birthday Luke has been missing and they certainly do not get any easier. And then there is Christmas.

“I am 99per cent sure that Luke is not alive. I want to find him whatever the circumstances. For me it will not relieve the pain but at least it will give our family some sort of closure.”

Two recent TV programmes- Missing Live and Inside Out - have featured Luke but not returned any concrete information.

Now Ms Durbin has asked investigators to enhance a number plate with computer software in a last effort to uncover the identity of the driver of a silver car spotted on CCTV footage released shortly after Luke's disappearance.

She said: “The police are still actively working on Luke which I am always pleased about.

“I have asked police to enhance the photo and I think they're looking into it. Obviously this is two-and-a-half years later but as long the vehicle was being legally driven we will be able to trace it.”

Anyone with information on Luke's whereabouts should call Suffolk police on 01473 613500 or the National Missing Persons Helpline on 0500 700700.
