MOTORISTS in Essex have been reminded of the double dangers of driving without properly de-icing and de-misting their windscreens tomorrow.
With temperatures expected to dip below freezing overnight, Essex police said basic maintenance to their vehicles will result in fewer crashes and casualties.
Drivers were also warned not return inside the house while leaving their engines running and keys in the ignition. The advice follows the theft of a three cars from driveways earlier in the month.
A police spokesman said: “While it's sensible to defrost and warm up the car before driving off, it's much colder with no car at all. There are thieves operating in areas in the knowledge that some drivers will do silly things.”
