POLICE have today warned motorists to expect major traffic congestion in the Christchurch Park area of Ipswich tomorrow night as people flock to the town's annual firework display.
Traffic is likely to begin building up from late afternoon onwards as the gates open at 6pm.
Soane Street will be closed to vehicles to allow safe access for pedestrians and there will be no public car parking available at the park itself.
Police are warning drivers not to approach the area unless absolutely necessary and to consider using Park and Ride as an alternative.
Buses will run until the town centre has cleared after the event.
