STUTTON parish council has narrowly voted against a controversial proposal to build a £3 million housing scheme for the elderly in the village.
The five to four vote against the development was cast following a packed and passionate open meeting attended by nearly 80 residents yesterday.
The planning application by Housing 21 together with the parish council comments will now be returned to Babergh District Council to be discussed at a meeting in five weeks time.
