A mother and daughter have praised an Ipswich weight-loss class for helping them to regain their confidence and improve their lifestyles.
School teacher Elizabeth Fox and her mother Veronica Fox have both lost around three-and-a-half stone each since joining Slimming World classes in the town three years ago.
The pair decided to sign up to the weekly classes at Halifax Primary School in Prince of Wales Drive and St Mary At Stoke Church in Belstead Road after looking at a series of holiday photographs.
Miss Fox, 35, who teaches mathematics and religious education at Ormiston Endeavour Academy in Ipswich, said: “It has been fantastic and has given us so much more energy. We are much more confident in ourselves and actually enjoy going shopping now.
“It was not easy sticking to the plan, but we stuck at it through the good times and through the bad times. There were temptations but it was worth the challenges.
“It has changed the way we think about food. We now automatically eat healthier food and generally feel much more healthier. For example, Slimming World cheesy chips include homemade chips which are not cooked in oil.”
She said being part of a group made it easier to lose weight, explaining: “They have been very supportive.
“Being with people who really understand what you are going through helps, and you can learn from their success.”
