DETECTIVES in Ipswich are hunting a heartless thief who stole a two-year-old's pram.

The £260 dark green and beige Detour three-wheeled pram was taken between 10.30am and 11.30am on Monday.

Today, the tot's angry mother, Lesley Nye, blasted those responsible.

“It's shocked me. Whoever has taken it has stolen from a child,” she said. “You have a pram because you have a toddler or a young child. If they'd stolen something like a pot plant you could maybe understand it.

“It's not the sort of thing you would think would be taken. The only reason I can think of is that the person responsible needed a pram for their child.”

Miss Nye, 38, said the pram was left for no more than 45 minutes in the front garden of her Alderman Road home.

She had been chatting to a friend before returning to find it was missing.

The full-time mum said she is borrowing a pram for the time being, but will eventually have to shell out for a replacement.

“I have lived here for seven months and haven't had any problems whatsoever until now,” she said.

“My son is actually registered as disabled because he is deaf. He knows it's been stolen because he hasn't got his pram anymore.”

Those with information on the theft should call PCSO Nicholas Askham at the South West Ipswich Safer Neighbourhood Team on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
