A MURDER investigation has been launched in Essex after a man who was stabbed in Clacton last month died in hospital.
A MURDER investigation has been launched in Essex after a man who was stabbed in Clacton last month died in hospital.
Essex police have confirmed the 58-year-old man died in hospital on Friday, September 18.
Officers are now investigating the incident at Broadway, Jaywick on Saturday, July 11, treating it as a murder inquiry.
Police today named the victim as John Smith, from Jaywick. He was involved in an incident at about 6pm when he was assaulted and also struck by a car.
Two people have been charged in relation to the incident, a 45-year-old man with attempted murder and a 31-year-old woman for assisting an offender.
The female has been bailed to attend Magistrates Court on September 24.

Six other people, five men aged, 34, 40, 41, 42 and 27 and a 30-year-old woman, are on police a bail until the end of October.
Anyone with any information that will help detectives is asked to contact them at Clacton on 0300 333 4444 or via Crimestoppers where they can give information anonymously.
Police are still trying to trace the driver of a red Citroen car and appeal for him to contact them.
