A SUFFOLK man arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife remains in police custody this evening after police were granted a custody extension.Gareth Lewis, 42 , was arrested on Sunday after Amanda Lewis suffered stomach wounds at her home in Fitzgerald Walk, Bury St Edmunds.

A SUFFOLK man arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife remains in police custody this evening after police were granted a custody extension.

Gareth Lewis, 42 , was arrested on Sunday after Amanda Lewis suffered stomach wounds at her home in Fitzgerald Walk, Bury St Edmunds.

Mrs Lewis, 42, was taken to West Suffolk Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

The custody extension was granted at St Edmundsbury Magistrates Court this afternoon and allows police to detain Mr Lewis until 7pm tomorrow .

Mr Lewis is currently in custody at Bury St Edmunds Police Station while police continue their investigations.
