Murray Park in Ipswich is set to get a trim trail as the latest measure to improve facilities.
Ipswich Borough Council’s south east area committee approved funding of £3,781.91 which combined with Tesco token funding of up to £2,000 that has been applied for, will enable five pieces of exercise equipment to be installed at the Felixstowe Road end of the park, and old goalposts to be updated.
The trim trail will feature a sit-up bench, parallel bars, pull-up bars, overhead ladder walk and slalom run.
The funding, applied for by the Friends of Murray Park, aims to “balance the use of both ends of the park and improve the facilities for adults,” the report said.
It follows a £50,000 overhaul of the park’s sports facilities in 2016, which enabled new tennis courts and a multi-use games area to be established.
The report added that it would “provide facilities for adults to exercise and bring the whole park into use that is more regular”.
A date of when work may begin and an estimated time for its opening has not yet been revealed.
