A BURNING car was discovered in a ditch beside a country road by an ambulance crew on their way to an unrelated 999 call last night.

A BURNING car was discovered in a ditch beside a country road by an ambulance crew on their way to an unrelated 999 call last night.

A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said the crew spotted the car beside the B1077 at Swilland, near Ipswich, shortly after 11pm.

The car was said to be well alight but no-one was found at the scene. Firefighters were called and they put out the flames and made the vehicle safe.

Police said they had not been called to the incident.
