TODAY the Evening Star can name a teacher arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography.

Paul Sear, who worked at Stowupland High School until May, is currently under investigation for the alleged offences.

One worried parent said: "The children just heard he was not coming back this term."

She added that Mr Sear taught science at the school in Church Road, Stowmarket.

At the time of his arrest, he was living in Hadleigh, but since he was released on bail, he is believed to have moved home.

Suffolk Police confirmed a 53-year-old man was arrested at his home in Hadleigh, on May 16, but have declined to confirm it was Mr Sear.

He was questioned at Sudbury Police Station about allegations of possessing indecent images of children, and it is believed some of the images police are investigating, involved Internet pornography.

He was released on police bail pending further inquiries, and is due to return to Sudbury Police Station on November 13.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk County Council, on behalf of Stowupland High School, has declined to comment.
