SUFFOLK County Council has apologised for mistakenly publishing a recycling article which said parents should use disposable nappies to reduce waste.
The mistake was made in an article called Don't be Nappy Rash in the summer edition of Suffolk County Council's About Suffolk magazine – but officials have moved quickly to clarify the issue.
In the article, the council states: "By encouraging parents to use disposable nappies, we are hoping to reduce the amount of waste being produced and at the same time save council taxpayers money."
However, the remainder of the text details the benefits of cloth nappies instead of disposable in a bid to reduce the 10,000 tonnes of plastic nappies that arrive at the county's landfill sites every year.
Rachel Stopard, head of communications at the council, said yesterday: "We are aware of errors in the article on disposable nappies featured in the current edition of About Suffolk.
"These mistakes were entirely due to human error and we are very sorry if they have led to any confusion."
