Three days of sheepdog trials will take place at Haughley Park this summer in a “unique and one-off event for Suffolk”.

Organised by the International Sheepdog Society, the English National Sheepdog Championships have been described as the pinnacle of the English sheepdog trial season.

Handlers and dogs compete for the coveted title of English National Champion. The trials are coming to Suffolk for the first time courtesy of the Williams family, owners of Haughley Park. Chairman of the organising committee Bob Wilden said: “This is a unique and one-off event for Suffolk and, we believe, one not to be missed.”

The event will be held from July 28-30. Tickets can be pre-booked for £10 at www.suffolkonshow.co.uk

Tickets will be £12 on the day for adults. Children under 16 and car parking is free. Dogs on leads are welcome.

The event will provide visitors with the opportunity not only to watch the working sheepdogs but to enjoy a range of other attractions.

Locally-produced food and drink will be available all day, with a licenced bar, and there will be stands exhibiting and displaying a mixture of skills and services.

Various activities will be available for children, including an opportunity to get up close to the animals and even a traditional fun fair.
