AS the brass band struck their first cord the royal celebrations began.

Hundreds of people gathered at Needham Market Middle School to support Her Majesty's golden jubilee.

From Dr Spin Off's crazy bikes to more traditional stalls, old and young mingled together and enjoyed the sun.

Patrick Roberts helped to organise the event and said he was thrilled it was going so well.

"We will be lighting a beacon at 10.15pm and there is something for everyone here. It is wonderful to see so many people here and it has turned out to be a real community event."

Soldiers from Wattisham were also on hand to perform a traditional gun run which is used at royal tournaments.

Elizabeth Allard also turned up with her children she said: "It really shows community spirit and I am just glad to be joining in."
