HELP is needed to find the best carers of children in Suffolk after a string of new awards were launched.

Suffolk County Council and radio station KISS 105-108 launched the awards to recognise the contribution of those working with children like foster carers, childminders and play workers.

Categories include play worker of the year, early years child carer of the year and student of the year.

A number of prizes with a cash value of at least £500 are up for grabs, including high street shopping vouchers, MP3 players, CDs, and two tickets for Newmarket including accommodation.

Sue Thomas, chair of Suffolk Children First said: “We are looking for caring, enthusiastic individuals working as foster carers, childminders, play workers or in nursery, pre-school or other early years and childcare settings.

“Do you know someone who is dedicated to supporting children to develop and discover the world around them? Then you need to nominate them today.”

Anyone working in Suffolk's Ofsted registered settings and Suffolk County Council registered foster carers is eligible to enter.

All nominations are welcome and can be made online at www.suffolk.gov.uk/childcare or by contacting the Suffolk Childcare Information Service for an application form on 0845 60 800 33.
