IT'S all systems go for the staff at the Ipswich Regent as they get ready to launch their new season.

Along with a packed calendar of top-class acts comes a brand new state-of-the-art box office system.

This new system will mean a faster and more efficient service to take them in to the 21st century.

A spokeswoman for the Regent, Rosemary Howard, said this was going to be a great help.

"We have been working with the old system for a long time and it was in need of an up-grade. This is the first new system we have had since 1991 and it means we will be able to offer our customers a much better and more efficient service."

A member of staff who works in the box office said: "It will make the whole booking process so much quicker. Eventually all staff will be able to deal with internet bookings on their own computer and it will make multiple bookings a lot easier. Basically it will make dealing with the public a better experience for them and us."

The new system replace the old one that was introduced when Ipswich Regent, owned and operated by Ipswich Borough Council, reopened its doors as a live entertainment venue in September 1991.

But as demand for tickets grew the old system was failing under the pressure and it was time to bring it in modern version.

The Regent's new season promises to be a feast of comedy, drama and music. The FAST Show-Live, Peter Kay, Jim Davison and Jethro are just some of the comedians set to see you laughing in the aisles.

The Corpse! and Caught in the Net will add a little West End glamour and the list of bands and singers gracing the stage is fantastic.

When it comes to music Toploader and LibertyX are just two of the big names already confirmed along with Level 42, and old favourites Status Quo and Deep Purple.

There will also be the Ipswich Operatic and Dramatic Society's production of Copacabana to brighten up your fading summer evenings in September.

For all bookings call the box office on Ipswich 433100.
