RESIDENTS in Aldeburgh have renewed their calls for CCTV after the town suffered outbreaks of vandalism on the night of the annual carnival.
There were 37 recorded crimes during August which, says Aldeburgh police, was a small reduction on last year's figure - but 20 of those were committed after the carnival.
The town council has narrowly voted against the introduction of CCTV and Phil Brereton, of Crag Path, Aldeburgh, said he was disappointed with the decision.
He said there had been three bonfires on the beach and a memorial bench had been burnt.
