MOVIE buffs can look forward to watching the latest releases on a brand new multi-million pound cinema in Bury St Emunds.

At a meeting this morning planning officials granted permission for the new eight-screen complex at the Parkway, subject to one or two minor changes in the plan.

The announcement comes despite protests from the Suffolk Preservation Society who wrote to St Edmundsbury planners in October stating the council would be making a "major mistake" by approving the latest design.

The society says although it supports the principal of developing a multiplex cinema on the site, its proposed design is not acceptable and that the application should have been refused.
