RESIDENTS of Coddenham have celebrated the opening of a new recreational and wildlife conservation area.

The site, known as Mill Hill, was funded by Anglian Environmental Partnership and Suffolk landfill operator, Viridor.

It offers fantastic views over Coddenham and seating for people to enjoy the area.

David Hudson is on the Parish Council in Coddenham.

He said: "We are very grateful to these two organisations who have made this possible and we hope it will be a wonderful facility for everybody to enjoy."

Volunteers from the village worked hard to clear the site and make it an enjoyable area for all.

The land was originally owned by the Crown Inn in Coddenham but the inn closed many years ago leaving the site to fall in to disrepair.

So it was bought by the parish council for the village to use.

A plaque has also been installed to commemorate the partnership between residents and the two companies who helped fund the transformation.

This site is a wonderful addition to Broomhill, a much-used area of woodland and grassland acquired by the village many years ago.
