Suffolk charity launches new fundraising event
A Suffolk charity – which supports children and young people in the county living with life-threatening conditions or disabilities – has launched a brand new fundraising event.
GeeWizz will host its first-ever Pumpkin Patch and Maize Maze in October with host of entertainment for families.
The charity helps fund life-changing equipment, such as bespoke car seats, electronic wheelchairs, home physiotherapy for cerebral palsy that the NHS cannot fund.
Charity founder Gina Long, and husband Andrew, are inviting the community to come and choose their own pumpkins at their Hall Farm home in Fornham All Saints, near Bury St Edmunds.
Mrs Long said: “It’s been a personal ambition to open our own ‘GeeWizz Pumpkin Patch’ having seen my own children loving every second that we spent choosing their own pumpkins when we lived in California 25 years ago.
“It’s simply a fun way for families to be together, showing the children how the pumpkin are grown, for them to understand and see first-hand where their pumpkins come from at Hall Farm.”
Children will be given small wheelbarrows to help them choose pumpkins to enjoy the Halloween festivities, and hot chocolate will be served.
Paul Francis, Hall Farm director, said: “We are indebted to the local businesses who are so kindly supporting the Pumpkin Patch.
“The support our community has shown to GeeWizz never ceases to amaze us. We send heartfelt thanks to Tozer Seeds, MW Nice Fencing Supplies and VCS Agrimony.
“As well as the Pumpkin Patch, we are introducing our first Maize Maze and further entertainment will be planned around the event, ensuring everyone who supports this lovely fundraiser for GeeWizz, helping local children, leaves the farm having had a very memorable time.”
The Pumpkin Patch and Maize Maze, at Hall Farm, Fornham All Saints, will be open to the public between 10am and 4pm from October 20-28.
