AN Ipswich school which a few years ago was labelled as having serious weaknesses is today looking forward to a bright new future as work on a complete new look is about to get underway.

Westbourne Sports College is to get a new quadrangle at its heart - the start of a multi-million pound redevelopment of the entire campus.

The work can finally begin after headteacher Chris Edwards and his staff managed to plug a £600,000 hole in the school's finances and prepare for a brighter future.

The news comes just weeks into a new term which has been marked by a change of identity for the school after winning sports college status during the summer.
