TODAY sees an exciting new chapter in the life of your in-print Evening Star.

As we gear up for The Star's 125th birthday next year, we're showing a spring in our 2009 step...with a raft of changes to one of Britain's most successful regional daily titles.

Your brand-new Star will be:

- Packed with even more exclusive news and vibrant sport

- Topped up with more comments and views as well as the titbits, gossip that keeps you guessing

- Full of the information to help you run your busy life

- Worth at least 20 in offers...every day

- And, from today, your Star is CHEAPER five days of the week!

The new pricing model will see The Star drop to 40 pence, Monday to Thursday and on Saturday - with an increase on Friday when the number of pages will almost treble. Overall, the weekly cost of your Star will fall.

Here's the new deal:

- MONDAY to THURSDAY and SATURDAY: Your Star will cost 40p - a drop of seven pence each day...every little 7p helps!

- ON FRIDAY, The Star will contain the main commercial platforms of The Week, the latest Jobs, the latest Homes and Drive24...as well as a super leisure guide, in a bumper issue of more than 110 pages. The cost of Friday's Star, with its full weekend of value, will be 80p.

All of this topped by one of the UK's best news websites, where visitors' usage is rocketing.

Your Evening Star, be it in print and online, has captured the recession-busting spirit of change and innovation in our area. We even drew Premier Gordon Brown to Ipswich to see what all the fuss is about.

But in our campaigning mode we fight day and night for our readers - and have a string of battle honours to our name after tackling those in power when things go wrong.

If it hadn't been for your Star, the dreadful serious heart attack care changes, a shame on the NHS, would have remained secret, as would have the 500,000-plus purchase of a farm so NHS bosses could park their cars!

Meanwhile, we've raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity on a crusade that continues...

Our pledge is that:

- SIX DAYS A WEEK we'll give you exclusive and late-breaking news, from our Ipswich news team. We'll let you know what's really going on in town - with Felixstowe editor Richard Cornwell keeping his hand on the pulse down at the coast.

- EVERY day we'll give you unparalled value, through exciting offers and promotions, topped up by fantastic competitions. Today's ES has offers worth over 25, including a 2 for 1 meal deal at the excellent Old Orleans restaurant in town. Tomorrow the value will be even greater!

On Wednesday we'll have a stick of unique Ipswich (or Felixstowe) rock for every reader and on Friday you can win 1,000 to spend with Ipswich Central!

- ONLINE: The Evening Star's award-winning website will serve up minute-by-minute breaking news, from the latest traffic and crime updates to sport, blogs and feedback opportunities at www.eveningstar.co.uk
