POLICE hunting a Bonnie-and-Clyde duo who tried to hold-up a Felixstowe fast-food restaurant with a handgun, today released CCTV photos of the couple.

Detectives are hoping that the closed-circuit television pictures will jog someone's memory who may have seen the pair at the time of the attempted robbery, hanging about in the area just beforehand, or making their escape.

The hold-up happened last Thursday at the McDonalds drive-in and restaurant in Walton Avenue, Felixstowe, opposite Dock Gate Number One.

A man and a woman entered the restaurant at about 9.45pm and approached a 20-year-old member of staff at the counter and pointed what appeared to be a black handgun.

The man threatened the worker and demanded that he had over cash from the till. The woman then repeated the request.

However, the would-be robbers fled the scene empty-handed after something appeared to fall from the end of the gun.

McDonalds staff have been working closely with police and have handed over the CCTV tapes from which today's photos come.

The images show the man and the woman. The man, who is white, is wearing a dark hat, a black top, black gloves, dark coloured trousers/ jeans and dirty training shoes. A check scarf partially covers his face.

The woman is wearing a dark coloured hat with a white motif on the front, a light coloured top, black gloves, dark coloured trousers/ jeans and white trainers. A purple coloured scarf partially covers her face.

A police spokeswoman said: "We would ask people to take a good look at the pictures. Do you recognise either of them? Did you see anyone who was similarly dressed last Thursday night?

"Did you see them walking or running in this area about 9.45pm or did you see them get into a vehicle?"

A spokesman for McDonalds said that no staff had been hurt in the incident but those on duty were left shaken by what happened.
