A SUFFOLK man who walked to the North Pole last year is now planning to complete the journey by hovercraft.

Alex Henney, 30, whose family live at Ashfield, near Debenham, has already started training for the challenge - planned for April and May 2009.

Mr Henney and his friend, Simon Marshall, 43, are aiming to become the first to travel to the North Pole by hovercraft.

The two men spent last weekend training on the beach in Somerset, using a hovercraft operated by Burnham-on-Sands Search and Rescue, a team which rescues people who become stranded on mudflats in Bridgewater Bay.

Both Mr Henney, 30, who works for a brokerage company in London, and Mr Marshall, who owns his own management consulting practice, have experience in the Polar region.
