Mr Sheepshanks has been appointed chairman of Environmental Biotech which manufactures special bacteria which “eats” fats, oils and grease in sewers.
It helps prevent unpleasant smells developing and deals with waste products in an organic way without using manufactured chemicals.
The company is based in Essex and already has contracts with Anglia Water to clean sewers throughout the region.
Mr Sheepshanks' role as chairman of the company will be to mentor the company's managing director Aziz Tejpar and to make introductions in the world of business.
