The two variable message signs have been put up on the A14 between the Orwell Bridge and Copdock Mill for traffic heading west.
They warn drivers of any accidents, congestion, or dangerous road conditions – giving them the option of taking an alternative route if necessary.
A network of such signs is being put up on major roads across the country, including plans for more on the nearby A12.
