STRANGE things may be happening in the skies above Ipswich after an orange UFO was spotted hovering over the town.

One Ipswich pensioner first spotted a UFO hovering above the Woodbridge Road area of the town about six weeks ago. He has seen it several times since.

But as Frank Pearsons, 89, of Bolton Lane watched it last Wednesday night he noticed something “different and strange” about it.

At about 10.15pm Mr Pearsons noticed the orange-coloured disc hovering in the sky, about half way between the horizon and the zenith, the point directly above a specific location.

“I had to wait a while, the moon was so bright, but fortunately it disappeared when the orange light was at its brightest.

“I imagine anyone living in the south east part of Ipswich could have seen it, it was so bright and it was quite high up in the sky.”

The “orange globe” varies in colour according to Mr Pearsons, from a mid-orange to a silvery colour when it glows brightest.

However on Wednesday night Mr Pearsons noted the object acting in a strange manner.

He said: “At about 11.45pm I saw a speedy flash of silver dash into the orange globe.

“I would have thought it went straight inside it.

“And then about 15 minutes later I saw the same silver flash shoot out of the other side of the globe, and there were two more flashes from it at 15 minute intervals until about 12.30pm.”

Mr Pearsons said this is the first UFO he has ever seen.

“I don't think British technology could produce anything like that,” he said. “Somebody suggested to me it could be a satellite but it would not behave in that way and it wouldn't be the bright orange colour.

“I want to know if anybody else has seen the same light,” he added.
