SUFFOLK: A band which only formed three months ago is today preparing for the final of the lovemusic24.co.uk Battle of the Bands contest.

Peter Callaghan, Luke Winchester, James Gooding, Mark Hepplewhite and Marcus Sutton had known each for years before joining forces to create This Sudden Injury.

The Ipswich-based group, influenced by the likes of New Found Glory and Blink 182, describe their style as “punk rock with a gruff voice”.

Drummer Peter said: “Because we've only been together for three months, we couldn't believe that we got selected for the finals - it's unreal.

“We did a recording for the competition and we were blown away with how good it sounded.”

The five members had been members of other bands before coming together to form This Sudden Injury.

An excited Peter added: “We are all so delighted to be involved because it's such an amazing venue - bands like the Beatles have played there which makes it even more exciting.”

The other Battle of The Bands finalists are Fagan, Playing With Fire, Echoes Fall and This Boy Wonders.

The acts will go head-to-head on Saturday in the final at the Circle Lounge of The Regent.

Tickets cost 5 and are available from www.lovemusic24.co.uk/tickets
