FIREFIGHTERS are today still at the scene after battling through the night to contain 400 tonnes of hay blazing both sides of a Suffolk by-pass.Late last night crews from Melford, Sudbury and Newmarket attended the fire at Newman's Green, Acton, on the A134 near Sudbury.
FIREFIGHTERS are today still at the scene after battling through the night to contain 400 tonnes of hay blazing both sides of a Suffolk by-pass.
Late last night crews from Melford, Sudbury and Newmarket attended the fire at Newman's Green, Acton, on the A134 near Sudbury.
Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene for the rest of the day to break up smouldering hay bails.
Approximately two, 200 tonne bails of hay caught fire on opposite sides of the Melford by-pass at just after 11.30pm. Undergrowth, bushes and railway sleepers were also damaged.
