TWO men have been bailed on suspicion of violent disorder after gang of thugs stripped bricks from an Ipswich churchyard and hurled them at cars.

A 25-year-old Ipswich man and a 26-year-old man of no fixed address were arrested in connection with a weekend night of carnage in Waterloo Road during which bricks were stripped from a wall surrounding All Saints church on Chevallier Street and flung at more than ten parked cars.

Residents woke on Saturday, January 26, to find their car windows broken or their vehicle doors kicked in and a man from the street told how he saw between ten and 12 men breaking walls and throwing bricks and stones at around 2am.

The two men arrested have been released on police bail pending further inquiries. They are due to return to Ipswich police station on March 21 to answer their bail.
