CRASH bang in the centre of Ipswich – the fuse is ready to be lit for the annual Christchurch Park firework display!

Again organised by the 11th Ipswich Scout Group, the event is now in its 31st year and remains the top display in the county.

More than 32,000 people attended the spectacular last year and with attendance expected to be huge once again this November, tickets will once more go on sale early to ensure every opportunity to guarantee entry to the event – held in association with The Evening Star.

Shell Shock will be back in the town centre park on November 2, setting off the pyrotechnics and launching the fireworks which will explode in an array of colour and flashes high above the town.

Based in Suffolk, the company's work has gained them an international reputation, including setting off the fireworks to open and close the Commonwealth Games earlier this year.

Their 20-minute display in Ipswich will be set to music with an action and adventure theme and promises to be the biggest ever seen in the region with more than four explosions every second.

The region's largest fun fair and a smaller fair for younger children will also be set up. There will also be about 20 food outlets catering for all tastes.

Live music will take place on two stages, with SGR and BBC Radio Suffolk, while the Suffolk School of Samba will also be adding to the fun.

Advance tickets for the Christchurch Park display on November 2 will be available from today and offer a saving of 33 per cent compared to the gate price.

This means the advance price continues to be frozen at the 1999 level of £4 for adults and £2.50 for children between five and

15 years old. Children under five get in free.

Advance tickets also include a free entry into a draw run by Tower Ramparts shopping centre.

Prices at the gate on the day will be £6 for adults and £4 for children.
