Plans for a Fun Day at Holywells Park on Wednesday have been postponed because of Tuesday's rain and the threat of more bad weather to come.
Ipswich council decided to call off the event after the heavy rain on Tuesday lunchtime and forecasters predicting there could be more to come for much of Wednesday – the Met Office has issued a warning.
Mark Whiting from the borough said: “Due to the poor weather conditions we have had to cancel tomorrow’s Family Fun Day in Holywells Park, Myrtle Meadow.
“The event was due to take place outside in the park from noon until 4pm. The previous and forecast heavy rain has made it both unpleasant and potentially unsafe for the event to go ahead.
“We have notified all the activity providers and will be working with them to rearrange the Family Fun Day for a new date later in August. Watch this space!”
