BABERGH is now a Labour-free zone after the party lost six seats in the local elections in the district.
The council remains under no overall control although the Conservatives are now the largest single party after boosting their numbers from 11 to 19 on the 43-seat authority.
The Liberal Democrats held their own, going down by just two seats from 18 to 16 while the independents remain on seven and Clive Arthey still sits without any description.
The new council seems likely to retain its traditionally non-political stance with the senior councillor positions being filled by members from different parties.
