Former Northgate High School students are being urged to join a new alumni group to help current pupils at the Ipswich school.

Members could become aspirational case studies, act as mentors or library volunteers, or help provide work experience.

Headteacher David Hutton was inspired to create the free alumni group after attending a 1950s Northgate Grammar School reunion.

He said: “Some spoke to me about wanting to put something back for the benefit of the current young generation, and I believe many past pupils would like to have some form of involvement with the school.

“Therefore, we are establishing a Northgate Alumni database. All information will be held securely and used for the sole purpose of developing links to Northgate. No individual’s details will be passed to third parties. All past pupils and students will be eligible.”
