These pictures captured in The Shipwright Arms pub in 1974 will evoke fond memories for many who lived in the Wherstead Road area of Ipswich.

Now a hotel and bar, the venue is made up of a number of old buildings, some of which are listed and date back to the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

It became a members only bar in around 1998, although has since opened up to the public again.

These pictures, taken by one of our photographers in 1974, show that good times were had at the venue, which lies within walking distance of the town centre.
