If The Railway Tavern was your local in 1974, you could be pictured in our gallery here.
The Railway Tavern once stood proudly in Burrell Road where it was a popular watering-hole for its customers.
These pictures are sure to evoke fond memories for many in 1974 and prove just how popular it was back in its heyday.
The pub opened in 1863 under the name Locomotive before it became known as the Railway Tavern to reflect the fact it was just a few minutes walk from Ipswich railway station.
In June 1987, the Burrell Road pub served its final drinks to its customes before calling time and closing its doors for the final time.
Following its closure, the building was demolished and the pub was added to the many to disappear from the streets of Ipswich. A block of flats now stands on the site where the pub once stood.
Can you spot yourself or anyone you know in these pictures from our archives? Were you a local at the Pub in the 1970s?
