A police officer is still suspended from duty following an incident in which he falsely reported a shotgun incident in Stradbroke.

The officer, who lives in the Bury St Edmunds area, originally claimed a gun had been fired in his direction after a car he was following stopped on a remote country lane in March.

He retracted his story about a week after the incident and was immediately suspended pending a disciplinary investigation.

A Suffolk police spokesman said the investigation was continuing and the officer was still suspended from duty.
