IPSWICH detectives are appealing for more help in catching a bogus caller who struck in Ipswich.

They want two people to come forward who they believe may hold vital clues in catching a man who duped an 81-year-old lady and robbed her of cash.

The incident took place at around 5.30pm on Monday.

The lady showed the man to the back of her house, but at the same time noticed another male sitting in a small red car directly outside the house.

Once the first man left she found her house had been searched and cash stolen.

Detectives have since been informed that a J registration Vauxhall Astra was seen parked near to the victim's home around the time of the incident, and they want the owner to come forward so they can be eliminated from their inquiries.

They also want a man seen near the house at the time of the incident to come forward but stress they are fairly confident that he is not linked with the case.

He is described as 6ft 1ins to 6ft 2ins, aged around 40, balding on top with dark hair at the sides.

He was wearing glasses and carrying a white plastic bag. Police say he may hold "vital information".

Anyone with any information about this crime should call Suffolk Police on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
