THREE police officers have been disciplined following an incident in the bar of a Suffolk police station.

THREE police officers have been disciplined following an incident in the bar of a Suffolk police station.

It is believed a number of incidents took place both inside and outside Ipswich police station on Friday November 23 last year.

Disciplinary action has been taken against three police officers and possible action against two officers is still pending.

Because of this Suffolk Constabulary says it is unable to discuss what happened that night.

Following the incident, police chiefs immediately called in the professional standards department which launched an investigation.

An alcohol ban, which was put in place at the station following the incident, was lifted in April.

A Suffolk police spokesman said: “The bar at Ipswich police station recommenced the sale of alcoholic drinks on Sunday April 13.

“The investigation by the Suffolk Constabulary professional standards department into the allegations of misconduct on the evening of Friday November 23, 2007, has now been completed.

“Disciplinary action has been taken against three officers. However, disciplinary action against two officers is still pending.

“We will not discuss the nature of the alleged incidents or issue further comment until the disciplinary proceedings have concluded."
