IPSWICH town centre is set to become an overnight camping ground as the ritual of buying Daniel O'Donnell tickets takes place once again.

Ardent fans of the Irish singer are expected to pitch up outside the Central Box Office, in Princes Street, tomorrow night to guarantee first dibs on the best seats in the house when tickets for his next Ipswich shows go on sale on Saturday morning.

It has become part of the Daniel O'Donnell tradition to see his supporters wrapped up warm against the elements and in good spirits as they queue overnight for tickets.

They have been seen regularly over the years, first outside the Regent and now near the Cornhill, whenever tickets for his latest shows go on sale.

This time Daniel is booked in for two performances at the Regent, on April 20 and 21, and tickets for those buying in person will go on sale an hour before those booking by phone, post or online.

There will also be restrictions on the number of tickets each person can buy. Fans will be allowed to buy only four tickets each for the first 12 rows of the Regent stalls; for all other rows it will be no more than ten tickets each. And hardcore supporters buying tickets for both nights will only be able to book seats in the first ten rows for one of the dates.

When Daniel takes to the stage at the Regent in April it will be more than two years since his last visit to Ipswich, for he was last here in February 2003.

Before then, his performances in town had become almost annual occasions.

Daniel has won a special place in the hearts of his fans not only because of his music but because of the relationship he shares with them.

He invites them to his home in Ireland, knows thousands of them by name and pays visits to those unable to make it to his shows.

In return his fans pack out theatre and concert venue auditoriums whenever he plays, buy his music and go to great lengths - even camping out overnight - to show their dedication to him.

Daniel O'Donnell will be at Ipswich Regent on April 20 and 21 next year. Tickets cost £23 and £25 and will be on sale to personal callers from 9am at the Central Box Office, in Princes Street, Ipswich and from 10am by calling 01473 433100 or logging onto www.ipswichregent.com
