A FOOTBALL-mad six-year-old was treated to a dream day at the new Wembley after coming up trumps in a competition.

Olivia Baxter, of Perkins Way, Ipswich, was one of just a handful of youngsters who had the privilege of walking out on to the pitch as a mascot prior to the first official game at the new stadium.

The young Ipswich and England fan, who attends Pipers Vale School, was given an Italy kit for her stint as an Italy U21 mascot for the game against England U21s on Saturday.

Olivia's mother Lisa, 32, said her daughter was thrilled with the experience.

She said: “She loves football through and through and is a big Ipswich fan.

“She was very excited but took it all in her stride and seemed completely unphased.

“She loved the game but I think she was a little bemused at being the Italian mascot.

“She was given a bit of a tour of the stadium and when she was returned to us we looked through pictures of the stadium in the programme and she pointed out where she had been.

“I'm totally jealous of her.”

Other people from Suffolk at the game included 70 stewards supplied by Ipswich Town .
