ONE of Great Britain's most successful athletes was due in Ipswich today to launch a lottery game which will raise funds for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in London.

Gold medallist javelin thrower Steve Backley OBE was joined by National Lottery presenter Sophia Rafaat at the Buttermarket to promote the Dream Number game.

Backley is four times European javelin champion and has won the Commonwealth Games three times. He is also the first British athlete to have won medals at three consecutive Olympic Games.

Tickets for the new Dream Number game went on sale for the first time today with the first draw taking place on Saturday .

Every Lotto play slip will now feature a seven-digit Dream Number and there are one million possible winning combinations per draw - it is up to players to mark 'yes' to give their Dream Number its chance of winning up to £500,000, or ask for a Lucky Dip.
