In our daily feature, we take a look at what happened on this day in Ipswich Town’s history – and today includes John Wark scoring four goals in a big win over West Brom.
We begin today in 1982 when John Wark scored four as the Blues put six past West Brom at Portman Road, which was their first win in five games, while in 1976 Clive Woods netted as Town beat Man United 1-0 at Old Trafford.
In 2004, Shefki Kuqi was among the scorers as the Blues beat Preston 3-0 at Portman Road to remain unbeaten at home in the 2004-05 season, while in 1996 Paul Mason scored the only goal as Town beat QPR 1-0 at Loftus Road.
It was on this day in 2010 that the Blues beat Millwall 2-0 at Portman Road, thanks to goals from Jason Scotland and Grant Leadbitter, to end Town’s barren three-game spell of games without a win, while in 1984, Town drew 1-1 with Newcastle in the League Cup Third Round at Portman Road.
And finally, on this day in 1999, Jamie Clapham and Richard Naylor both netted as Town beat Grimsby 2-0 at Portman Road, while in 1991 Steve Whitton scored as Town drew 1-1 with Charlton at the Boleyn Ground.
