A MAN who was kicked in the head outside an Ipswich nightclub is to receive compensation, a court heard.

Abdulkadir Mohammed was pulled from his car outside Kartouche nightclub and attacked by two unknown men.

During the attack on May 18 this year, Karl Metten, 23, approached Mr Mohammed and punched him in the head, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Metten of Harewood Terrace, Norwood Green, Southall, Middlesex was dragged from the scene but returned a moment later to kick Mr Mohammed.

Metten told police he had drunk six brandies and two bottles of alcohol, and could not remember why he approached Mr Mohammed.

Mr Mohammed suffered cuts and bruises to his head, as well as leg injuries.

Judge Gareth Hawkesworth watched a CCTV video of the attack on Mr Mohammed before passing sentence. He heard that Metten who was an intelligent man currently on a three-year arts course at college, had pleaded guilty to causing Mr Mohammed actual bodily harm.

Judge Hawkesworth deferred sentencing Metten for six months, after agreeing Metten had not caused all Mr Mohammed's injuries.

He said Metten was to attend Chelmsford Crown Court on April 26 next year where he would be told how much compensation to pay Mr Mohammed.

Metten was told if he worked hard and stayed out of trouble he would face a community punishment instead of prison.
