The organisers of the “biggest” Christmas tree festival in the country are expanding the event this year.

Stowmarket will be flooded with trees for the festive period – with the parish church, St Peter and St Mary’s, to expand the event to include the town’s Museum of East Anglian Life.

The festival will be open daily in the church from November 28 to January 3, with more than 300 Christmas trees on display.

To mark this year being the event’s 10th anniversary there will be a preview cheese and wine evening on November 27 at 7pm. Tickets are available from the church office, call 01449 774652 or visit Mid Suffolk Tourist Information Centre.

Other town organisations are working together to make Stowmarket known as the “Christmas Tree Town”.

The Stowmarket Striders are inviting people to join them in a fun run, dressed as Christmas trees, through the town on November 30.

No booking is needed for the race, which costs £3 and starts at 2pm, from the John Peel Centre.
