Police have said that a man who died after apparently falling from the Orwell Bridge was from the Halesworth area.
The tragedy occurred early on Wednesday last week.
A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said the man’s identity would not be released until the opening of his inquest.
However, the spokesman confirmed the deceased was in his 40s and from the Halesworth area.
Officers were called at around 3.15am to reports of a car which was believed to have broken down on the Copdock-bound carriageway of the Orwell Bridge.
On arrival officers found the vehicle to be empty and requested assistance from Coastguard and RAF Search and Rescue helicopter based at Wattisham.
A search of the river took place, where a body was found at around 4.30am.
