Students at Orwell Park School have been praised for raising over £2,750 for charity after staging their own school fair.
The pupils organised the event themselves last month and held a ‘splat the rat’ game, an inflatable Santa challenge, and a ‘guess the weight of the cake’ competition.
The students even arranged for teachers to provide extra festive cheer by singing Christmas carols.
The price of the activities on offer ranged from 50p to £2, making even more remarkable the feat of raising a total of £2,750.96 for three chosen charities.
Headmaster Adrian Brown said: “We are absolutely delighted with the amount raised for our charities, but most pleasing of all is that the pupils organised and ran the whole afternoon themselves.”
The chosen charities were: Tiffers, the Ipswich-based shelter for homeless people; MIND; and Mercy Ships International.
