The Oscar winning actor and star of the latest Batman film, suffered a broken elbow and arm in the smash in Mississippi, along with shoulder damage.
His passenger, 48-year-old Demaris Meyer, was also hurt in the crash.
It has also emerged that 71-year-old Mr Freeman is to divorce his wife of 24 years, Myrna Colley-Lee.
